That time we had a newborn and moved to a new city in the middle of a global pandemic…but first let’s back up a few years.
My husband and I got married in 2015 in our hometown of Lafayette, IN, and soon after, we moved to the north Indy area for his job. At the time, I worked full-time as an operating room nurse, but when our daughter was born, I decided to step away to focus on being home with her. Those early days were so special—filled with park trips, library classes, and exploring our new area. We loved living on the north side, but after she was born, we realized we wanted more space to raise our family in, with a bigger yard and a great community. So, we sold our home and moved into a small rental while we continued to search for our forever home.
This is when things got interesting, because a few weeks after we moved into that rental, we found out we were expecting our second child. He was born at the height of the pandemic, and just a few weeks after his birth, we found our dream home in Brownsburg. And just like that, with a 17 month old and a 6 week old, we made the big move. It was a crazy year to say the least!
Those first few years were tough—moving to a new city in the middle of a global pandemic, when everything as shut down, was hard and isolating. Add in the fact that we were adjusting to life with 2 under 2, I felt disconnected from community and longed for a sense of belonging.
Fast forward a few years, the opportunity to start Keeping Up In Brownsburg came along and it felt like the perfect fit. I knew this was a way for me to help others feel connected to where they live, just as I had been searching for myself.
I’ve always loved exploring new places, finding hidden gems, and sharing them with friends. Now, I get to do that on a bigger scale with this platform. Helping others plug into our community and love where they live has become one of my passions, and I’m so thankful to be on this journey! My hope is that this platform always makes you feel loved, connected and gives you a sense of belonging.
I can’t wait to explore with you!
